How Cold Is Your Heart?
How cold is your heart? Perhaps you are offended by such an open, honest question. Jesus gave a parable about a man who was wounded by thieves and then was left for dead on the side of a road. Two religious men passed by on that road. Both of these men walked on the other side of the road when they saw this wounded man. A third man then came by and had the courage and compassion to help the poor victim. Which of the three passersby that day are you the most like?
Being religious does not mean that you do not also (sadly) have a cold heart. Those men who plotted to have Jesus put to death were also very religious men. They also had very cold hearts.
The Roman Catholic Jesuits during The Dark Ages murdered many Baptists and others who put Jesus and the Bible first - they were also very religious men. Nevertheless, their being religious did not stop them from committing the murder of Baptists and other good Christians.
The sad fact is, that being religious does not in itself change your heart. There are many religious men today who do awful things in God's name. Just look at the murderous Muslims who have beheaded or otherwise murdered so many Jews, Christians, and others over the years. There are other religious men today, (even some who call themselves Fundamental Baptists), whose hearts deep down are not much better than a murdering Muslim fanatic.
But you say, how could this be? Isn't a Baptist preacher better than a murdering Muslim fanatic? Well, if a Baptist preacher is lost and on the road to Hell, then the answer is no. God is no respecter of persons. If a man has hatred in his heart, then the Bible says that such a man (or woman) is a murderer. The Bible says that no murderer has eternal life abiding within him. Therefore, if a Baptist preacher lives a life with hate filling up his heart, then the Bible says that he is going to Hell because the Bible says that he is still lost -- (no matter what he might claim to the contrary).
And how about you? Do you have hated in your heart? Is your heart described by the above picture? But you say, "I have not killed anyone". Well, that was not the question. Do you have hate for another person in your heart? Do you deep down hate your father or your mother? Do you hate someone else who "did you wrong" in the past?
Do you hate those true "Fundamentalist Baptists" and others who put Jesus and the Bible first? Deep down do you wish that those good Christians were dead? God knows your heart. One day, God will "reward" you for your secret sins. God will reward you by casting you into the Lake of Fire. Is that what you want?
The fact is, only Jesus can save you from your sins. You cannot save yourself. If you were to stop sinning right now, the sins that you have already committed in the past would be enough to send you to Hell for all Eternity. "Turning over a new leaf", praying a prayer, or doing some other good work, as taught by the Roman Catholic Church will not save you either. You will still go to Hell because your sins are still written down by God in His books in Heaven. God will still read your sins on Judgment Day and then have you cast into the Lake of Fire.
You need Jesus to save you from your sins. Jesus died on a cross to pay for your sins. Jesus wants to save you, and will save you if you will just trust Him to do so. Do not put it off. Eternity is too long and your life is so very short. Trust Jesus now and settle the matter. Do it today.
